A housewife, the mother of a child, has been accused of gang rape in Shivchar, Madaripur. The incident took place at noon on Saturday (December 12) in front of Panchchar Sonar Bangla Plaza in the upazila.
The victim has filed a rape case at the Shibchar police station at night. Police arrested two people, including a woman named Akhi Akter (25), on charges of participation and cooperation in the rape.
According to the details of the case, on Saturday afternoon he picked up the housewife on an easy bicycle and took her to a one-story house in the Panchhar Bakhrerkandi project by five people, including Akhi Akhter and Sumon Mollah. There, several people raped her in two assaults until the afternoon, keeping her hands, feet and face tied. At around 5.30pm, the locals arrived with a motorcycle and blocked the easybike when they opened their mouths and yelled. The locals rescued the housewife when the defendants riding an easybike quickly fled. In the evening, the victim filed a rape case against five people, including a woman, who had assisted in the rape.
According to the police, the victim’s wife, Akhi Akter, is an old acquaintance of the victim in the Rajarchar Molakandi area of upazila. There are allegations of prostitution against Akhir. He offered prostitution to the victim three months ago while she was living in Shibchar Township. Upon learning of the incident, the victim’s family members severely beat Akhi. So Akhi left the place and rented a house in the Bakhrerkandi project.
There lived three Subal Mandals alias Sumon Mollah. On Saturday, the victim went to see her cousin in Panchchar Sonarbangla Plaza to look for money to buy milk for her son. Due to previous hostilities, Akhi and his associates forced him to pick up an easy bike at noon and take it to an abandoned house in the Bakharkandi project. They took him there and beat him first. She was later raped more than once by three men named Sohail, Eskan, and Subal Mandal.
The victim filed a rape case against Akhi Akhter (25), Subal Mandal aka Sumon Mollah (32), Sohail (35), Eskan (38) and autorickshaw driver Sohag Hawlader (35) at the Shibchar police station.
Shibchar Police Investigation Officer. Amir Hossain Serniabat said that the victim was sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for a medical examination.
Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Miraj Hossain said: “After filing the case, the police raided and arrested two people, including the main defendant. Initially, the truth of the gang rape was discovered. The operation continues to arrest the rest of the accused.
He further said that Akhi is basically a body trader. Akhii caused this incident due to a previous enmity.
