Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl চা t ভ avu ও o ্ল lu explained the tension created by the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Azerbaijan, reciting a controversial poem.

He said in a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday night that he thought Erdogan’s poem about the Aras River on the Iran-Azerbaijan border was about the separation of the Nagorno region- Karabakh. It has relations with Iran.

Azerbaijan held a festival last Thursday to mark the recovery of its territory from Armenia in the recent war for control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was the guest of honor at the event.

In a speech in the presence of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the capital Baku, the Turkish President recited a separatist poem about the Aras River on the Azerbaijani-Iran border. In the poem, the current independent state of Azerbaijan, located in the northern part of the Aras River, expresses its regret at the separation of the Iranian province from Azerbaijan.

One line from the poem that Erdogan recited was: “They have separated the river Aras and filled it with rods of stone. I will not part with you. They separated us by force. “

Tehran has vigorously protested Erdogan’s unsolicited comments on the internal affairs of the Azerbaijan province in Iran. The Turkish ambassador was summoned to Tehran and reported on the protests from Iran. Iran’s foreign minister also reacted angrily on Friday. The Turkish government also summoned the Iranian ambassador to Ankara.

In the end, the Turkish foreign minister claimed that Erdogan had recited the poem without knowing it. However, observers believe that the true secret behind the recitation of the poem by Erdogan, the president and veteran politician of a country like Turkey, will be revealed in due course by Turkey’s future plans for Azerbaijan.
