He spoke at a webinar titled “12 Years of Digital Bangladesh Moving Forward” on Friday evening, highlighting various aspects of Bangladesh’s progress in information technology.
Sajeeb Wazed said: “We have moved Bangladesh forward, we are taking it forward. We have established Bangladesh as a modern developing country. But the sad thing here is that I want to end with a warning, that there is a class in our country who have already raised their heads in an attempt to turn the country back … They are threatening to turn Bangladesh into Afghanistan.

“What do we call them? What do we call them? We call them Razakars. Jamaat was in 1971 and now Hefazat is also becoming the new Razakar ”.
When the initiative was taken to erect a sculpture of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dholaipara in Dhaka on the centenary of the birth of Bangabandhu (Mujib Year), several Islamist parties, including Hefazat-e-Islam, spoke out against it.
Amir Junaid Babungari of Hefazat, Acting Secretary General of Khilafah Majlis Mamunul Haque and Naib Amir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh Syed Faizul Karim called the sculpture “anti-Sharia”. Following this, a Bangabandhu sculpture under construction was vandalized in Kushtia late at night on December 4.
Sajib Wazed Joy, raising the issue, said: “On the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, they have dared to break the sculpture of the Father of the Nation. What is the attack on the father of the nation? It is an attack on our sense of freedom. Those who have attacked our sense of independence, those who are against Bangladesh. “

Convinced of opposing the fundamentalist forces, he said: “Will we ever become a country from that period of ignorance? We will not allow that to happen. As long as there is an Awami League government, we will not allow that to happen. On behalf of our youth , I would like to say that we must eradicate this fundamentalist force …
“We, the Awami League of Bangladesh, have made Bangladesh independent and modernized Bangladesh. We are developing Bangladesh by addressing all challenges. We know how to deal with the Razakars.”
