The country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDO) gave the green signal on Friday for the vaccine to be widely used, the BBC reported.
Earlier in the day, a majority of the FDA’s advisory panel members also recommended approval.
According to US media reports, the Donald Trump Administration lobbied the FDA to quickly approve the Pfizer vaccine.

FDA chief Stephen Han, however, dismissed the rumors as “false.”
Trump said the first vaccine would be administered in the United States “in less than 24 hours” with the approval of regulatory authorities.
Earlier, Health and Human Services Minister Alex Azar said that his ministry and Pfizer were working to launch a comprehensive vaccination program in the United States beginning Monday or Tuesday.
The UK was the first country in the world to allow the use of the Pfizer vaccine to prevent Covid-19. Vaccines are also being applied to the highest-risk people in the country.
The Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine was subsequently approved in Canada, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
A record 3,000 people died from coronavirus in the United States on Wednesday, the BBC reported. Never before has Covid-19 seen so many deaths in a single day anywhere in the world.
