Dhaka: While praising the construction of the Padma Bridge, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, the convenor of the Citizens’ Unit, questioned the cost of building the bridge.
He said that no matter how much he insults, Sheikh Hasina will not resign.
I did well, I appreciate it. He is not doing any intermediation. I honestly think the Padma Bridge has done a good job. It is a dream bridge, at least for the south. But there is talk of building this bridge.
He said this at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club on Friday morning.
“A bridge has been built between my country, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, called the Bhupen Hazarika Bridge,” Manna said. 9.15 km long. The Padma Bridge is 6.25 kilometers long. The construction of a 9.15 km long bridge cost 1128 crore rupees. And our 8 and a quarter kilometer bridge has yet to be built, at first it was estimated to be around 10 thousand crore rupees.
He said the exact amount spent so far has not been updated. Everyone thinks that the last thing said was Rs 30,000 crore, with another Rs 10,000-20,000 crore added. It may take 20 thousand crore rupees to complete. This means that it will cost between Rs 60-70 billion to build this 6 km long bridge. If they can build a 9 and a quarter kilometer long bridge for 1128 million rupees, why does the Padma bridge cost so much money?
He said, is there an account of how much money is looted in this country in a year? According to an account provided by state-owned banks, all privately-owned banks say that at least Rs 60 billion is smuggled overseas every year. More passes for hundi, that is, a quarter crore of rupees. Excluding a quarter crore lakh rupees, if 60 lakh crore is smuggled every year, we can build a Padma bridge every year with that money. Why so many stories?
BNP Deputy General Secretary Khairul Kabir Khokon, Organization Secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Central Leader Arpana Roy, Ishraq Hossain, Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran, Daksur Vice Chairman Nurul Haque Nur, they headed to the meeting.
