Bakul Sheikh, 40, a member of Union Parishad (UP), was stabbed to death during a clash between two factions for alleged extortion and domination in the Ananta Bazar area of ​​Pabna.

The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The deceased was identified as Bakul Sheikh, a member of District No. 8 of the Dogachhi Union under Pabna Sadar Upazila.

Police and locals said that Bakul had been arguing with Mokhlesur Rahman Gangu from the area for a long time about collecting CNG and motorcycles in Ananta Mor. Because of this, a group of terrorists hacked into and shot Bakul around 7pm today.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Pabna Sadar Police Station, Mohammad Nasim Ahmed, confirmed the information to the media. He said the police had visited the scene after receiving the news. The body was recovered and an autopsy was arranged.

The CO added that it was initially known that the killings were due to a dispute over dominance in the area. The matter is being investigated.

Ali Hasan, Chairman of Dogachhi UP, said: “The terrorists and extortionists identified in the area have publicly carried out the killings. A UP member cannot die this way. He demanded a proper investigation into the incident and exemplary punishment for those involved.
