The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced a £ 9 billion (Rs 6.5 billion) fund for the collection of the corona vaccine in developing countries in Asia. The funds will be raised through the ‘Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Center (APVAX)’ program for the purchase, proper management and distribution of the corona virus vaccine.
This information has been reported in a press release from the Manila headquarters on Friday. He noted that the fund was created to effectively procure and distribute safe and effective corona vaccines to ADB member countries quickly and fairly.
In this regard, ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa pointed out that ADB member countries are preparing to vaccinate people against the crown as soon as possible. Financing will be required for the purchase and proper handling of this vaccine. This fund has been created so that they can carry out this work safely, fairly and efficiently. He noted that the fund would play a key role in helping the economy rebound from the Corona challenge.
According to the ADB, the number of corona cases in Asia and the Pacific has exceeded 14.3 million. More than 2 lakh people have died. During this time of crisis in the Crown, there will be a contraction of 0.4 percent without growth in the region this year. Asia’s economy is going through its worst moment since 1980.
ADB has made safe, fair and accessible vaccine collection for all of its member countries one of its top priorities. Immunization programs will help overcome adverse effects on the economy. It will also build the confidence of the general public to return to the status quo in activities such as employment, mobility and social security. Through this program, countries will be able to receive assistance in the collection, storage and other auxiliary sectors of vaccines. It was also mentioned that assistance will be provided to increase vaccine production.
ADB funds will be managed in coordination with the World Bank, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Global Access to Covid-19 Vaccines (COVX), and multilateral development partners.
