Chinese mobile phone company Huawei has secretly developed software called “Uyghur Alert” to monitor Uighurs, China’s Muslim minority. The matter came up in the recent AP investigative report. Barcelona’s Atonian Griezmann has announced that he will break ties with Huawei in support of the Uyghurs.

Huawei is experimenting with software to identify Uighurs. Which will help the Chinese police department. China has taken this step to avoid an uncontrolled birth rate. However, questions have been raised about his initiative from various quarters. However, Griezmann did not like the subject. That’s why the 29-year-old star canceled her endorsement deal with the company on Thursday.

Griezmann said in a statement on Instagram in protest: I want Huawei to act as soon as possible, not only denying its participation, but also condemning the massive persecution. Also, let’s use their influence to defend the rights of men and women in society.

A Huawei spokesperson has denied the allegations. The spokesman said the accusation was “completely unacceptable” and that there was no discriminatory attitude towards any nation in the organization’s ethics.

Note that Griezmann has been working as Huawei’s global ambassador since 2016.
