The dreamy Padma Bridge has come true. With the installation of the final 41 tranche, the full form of this Bangladeshi dream came to light last Thursday. There is much more work to be done. It will take about a year and a half to complete. According to the latest estimates, the cost of the 6,150 meter long bridge has been estimated at Tk 30,193 crore.

This Padma bridge is being built with own funds. Whatever the construction cost, the government will raise the money by collecting tolls. A certain amount of toll will be charged for crossing the bridge. A list of the rate of this toll has also been compiled. The Department of Roads and Highways (RHD) has proposed a preliminary toll rate.

Under the bridges department toll proposal, the toll for crossing the Padma bridge by bus can be Rs 2,360. It has been proposed to raise Rs 1,720 for small trucks, Rs 2,100 for medium trucks and Rs 2,065 for large trucks. The toll will be charged initially for 15 years after the Padma Bridge is commissioned. The toll rate will increase by 10 percent every 15 years.

Currently, a bus has to pay a toll of 1,400 Tk to cross Padma by ferry. If there are passengers on the bus, you have to pay another 450 rupees. And if the bus travels at night, you have to pay another 480 rupees. As such, if a passenger bus crosses the Padma on a ferry during the day, the toll is Rs 1,650 and at night it is Rs 2,320. In addition, a toll of Rs 1650 was collected from the truck. However, after a certain amount, the truck must pay a toll of Rs 160 per ton.

In addition, the toll for private cars on the ferries is Rs 500, the tolls on the minibuses are Rs 650 and the motorcycles are Rs 60.
