The temperature hasn’t dropped much. However, winter is being felt more as the frost barrier thickens, and the daytime and nighttime temperature difference has decreased. The temperature can begin to drop as of December 16 or 17. At that time, a cold snap can blow over the country for a week. Heavy fog is expected in riparian areas until noon on Friday. For this reason, the Department of Meteorology has warned vessels in these areas to move with caution.
Meteorologist Omar Farooq said: “Now the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures has decreased. Because of this, although the temperature is not very low, winter is feeling more. However, when the temperature came, it didn’t drop much. It will go down quite a bit next week. On the 16th or the 17th the cold wave may blow.
According to the Department of Meteorology, seasonal light pressure prevails in the South Bay. An extension of this is found in North Bay. The extension of the subcontinental high pressure zone extends to Bihar and its adjacent areas. As a result, the climate can be mostly dry with temporary partial clouds. In some parts of the country moderate to heavy fog may fall in river basins from midnight to noon and moderate to light fog in other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, a warning was issued for river ports until 6pm today. In the next two to three hours starting at 10 a.m. today, visibility in the country’s river basins could be 400 meters or less due to light to moderate fog. Ships in these areas have been asked to move carefully. However, it is not necessary to show any signals.
Today, the lowest temperature in the country is 14.3 in the Sitakunda division of Chittagong. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Dhaka is 17.8 degrees Celsius.
