Two killed on the way back after eating a friend’s birthday invitation

Two people, including a university student, were killed when they were crushed by the wheels of a covered van while returning from a friend’s birthday party in the capital’s Khilkhet.

The accident took place on Tinshaft Road around 8 a.m. Friday.

The deceased were identified as Ajmin Khan, 29, and Amir Hossain Riaz, 20. They are residents of the South Badda area.

Although Ajmin is the older brother in the area, he had a friendly relationship with Riaz.

Riaz was a student in class XII at Khilkhet Residential Laboratory College. And Ajmin Khan used to work in a private company. As well as app-based ride sharing.

Riaz’s cousin Sabbir told Jugantar that they had gone to a friend’s birthday party at a restaurant in Tinshaft this morning. The accident happened on the way back from there.

The Khilkhet SI Sudhanshu Sarkar Police Station told Jugantar that two drivers of the motorcycle were seriously injured when the covered van struck them. After rescuing them, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead. The bodies have been kept in two morgues for the autopsy.

He said the deadly covered van was seized after the accident, but the driver escaped.
