Maulana Mamunul Haque, Deputy Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh

Maulana Mamunul Haque, Deputy Secretary General of Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh and Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis, said that the sedition case brought against the construction of the Bangabandhu sculpture and the vandalism would be dismissed in the preliminary investigation due to ‘ weak data. ‘ Furthermore, he said in an interview with Kaler Kantha on Thursday that if the government ignores the obstacles of the Alem-Ulama and builds a sculpture of Bangabandhu in Dolairpar, they will not say anything, but they will be saddened. Interviewed by Mushtaq Ahmed.

Kaler Kantho: You affirm that the sculpture and the idol are the same. In fact, it is not.

Mamunul Haque: In the eyes of Islam, sculpture and idol are the same. Nowhere in the Medina Charter are sculptures and statues mentioned separately. An organization called Muktiyuddha Mancha is interpreting a correct theme differently and creating a volatile situation in the country. If the government ignores the obstacles of the scholars and erects a sculpture of Bangabandhu in Dolairpara, they will say nothing, but they will feel sad.

Kaler Kantho: Would you deny the chaotic situation that has arisen in the country with your statement?

Mamunul Haque: A group conspires to destabilize the country by relying on the government on the subject of sculpture. Now, those who are heating up the field of politics are not doing well for the Awami League government. Because the candidates of Awami League and its affiliates are mainly in the field.

We or Hefazat-e-Islam are not against the government or anyone else on the subject of sculpture. Initiatives have been taken to discuss this issue with the government under the leadership of the President of BEFAC. Hopefully the meeting will solve all the problems. The government can fix it. No need to deal with the highway. There will be no problem if the hidden threat is controlled. My statement is being cut and promoted on YouTube. If the situation is normal, action will be taken.

Kaler Kantho: A sedition case has been filed against you. How to deal with?

Mamunul Haque: The data on the case of the Bangabandhu sculpture are weak. I hope it will be rejected in the preliminary investigation.

Kaler Kantho: There are accusations of your involvement in Jamaat. He also talked about joining with Jamaat.

Mamunul Haque: I have no relationship with Jamaat. I didn’t say anything about joining Jamaat. But if Jamaat apologizes for two issues and gets out of the error, then any party can join them. There are two issues: the various statements of Maulana Maududi, the founder of Jamaat, are not in line with the principles of Islam. The other is his role against the liberation war of 1971. There are plans to form an alliance with Islamic parties in the future. Because the Islamic parties are moving differently on the same issue.

Kaler Kantho: Bangladesh is a secular country. There are questions about your policy.

Mamunul Haque: Secularism was not a problem before the great liberation war. It has been reattached to consciousness since independence. Since there was no talk of secularism during the liberation war, everyone in this country went to war. Only part of Jamaat opposed the liberation war. We do not support the later issue of secularism.

During the Indo-Pakistani partition in 1947, there was talk of establishing Islam. But the Pakistanis have used Islam for their own benefit. It was a huge scam.

Kaler Kantho: The followers of Allama Shafi have opposed the new Hefazat committee. Can custody survive strong?

Mamunul Haque: Those who claim to be followers of Allama Shafi are not an important part. They couldn’t even form a central committee. Hefazat is united under the leadership of Allama Junaid Babungari. No one can destroy this unit.
