Health Minister Zahid Malek said that the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine would arrive in Bangladesh in early January 2021. We are making arrangements to bring the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh through the Seram Institute of India. The government is bringing 30 million doses of vaccine directly.

He expressed this hope at the inaugural performance of the measles and rubella vaccination program in the capital on Thursday.

The Health Minister said that Bangladesh has been able to organize this vaccine under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. WHO will vaccinate us at the rate of 20 percent of our population. This may take a while to happen. But we will get vaccinated. There are many countries that have not yet been able to organize vaccination.

The kick-off ceremony for the measles and rubella vaccination program was held in the auditorium of the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. The Minister of Health inaugurated the program by vaccinating some children.

The measles and rubella vaccination program will begin on Saturday (December 12) and will continue until January 24. Under this program, about 34 million children under 9 months to 10 years will be vaccinated in a single dose. The vaccination will take place every day from 8 am to 3 pm except weekends.
