The ‘bomb’ recovered at the airport was deactivated in Tangail Madhupur

The bomb, excavated from the terminal of the capital’s Shahjalal International Airport, was defused at the Madhupur Upazila Air Force firing range in Rasulpur, Tangail, on Thursday (December 10) afternoon.

At 12:05 pm, while defusing the 250 kg bomb, the Flight Lieutenant of the Air Force Firing Range was present. A nine-member bomb disposal team led by Azam. In the morning, there was a loud noise as the bombs buried in the deep hole in the ground were defused. The matter was confirmed by the commander of the Rasulpur firing camp, Md Alam, and the assistant forest curator in the Madhupur forest, Jamal Hossain Talukder.

Madhupur fire service personnel said they were present when the bomb was defused. The bomb was found Tuesday while excavating at the third terminal under construction at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport. The bomb is believed to have been dropped from an allied fighter jet to subdue Pakistani aggressors during the liberation war. Locals said there was a loud noise when turning it off.
