The bomb, recovered from the third terminal under construction at Shahjalal International Airport, was defused at the Rasulpur Air Force firing range in Tangail’s Madhupur forest.
It was deactivated at 12:05 p.m. Thursday by a team of Air Force bomb disposal experts.

An object resembling a general purpose (GP) bomb weighing 250 kg was found underground during the pile-up at the construction site of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9 am on Wednesday. The Bomb Disposal Unit from Bangabandhu Air Force Base rushed to the scene and defused the bomb.
Later, the air force moved the base to the Rasulpur firing range in Paharkanchanpur with the necessary precautions to demolish the bomb in a safe place. Bomb experts believe it was thrown to the ground in 1971 during the liberation war.
