Dhaka: The managing director (MD) of the first bank, Rahel Ahmed, resigned a week before his term expired.

When contacted on Wednesday (December 9), Raheel Ahmed confirmed the news of his resignation and said he wanted to do better.

Sources confirmed that Rahel Ahmed’s resignation letter was approved at the December 6 meeting of Prime Bank’s board of directors.

According to Prime Bank sources, Raheel Ahmed’s contract will come to an end on December 13 this year. He has already resigned after receiving the news that his mandate as a doctor has not been extended.

Rahel Ahmed joined as Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank on December 14, 2016. Prior to that, he was Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank.

A source from the bank said then-managing director Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury was appointed CEO after making various allegations against him to the board.

Rahel Ahmed is known to join Mobile Financial Services Cash at a lower salary than Prime Bank.
