Chittagong: A section of the Chhatra League of Chittagong University (CU) has organized a procession in Kushtia to protest the vandalism of a sculpture under construction by Bangabandhu.
The procession began at the university’s Suhrawardy Hall at 12 noon on Tuesday (December 6) and ended at the Bangabandhu facility.
Later a brief assembly and human chain were held there. Hundreds of BCL leaders and activists participated in it.
Mohammad Ilias, former organizing secretary of the university’s student league, said at the rally that an attack on the Bangabandhu sculpture means an attack on the country. The people of the country will not accept this attack. The root of the extremists will be eradicated through united resistance. Those implicated in sculpture vandalism should receive exemplary punishment. No conspiracy with the Bangabandhu sculpture will be accepted.
Former BCL Finance Secretary Jahedul Awal and Sports Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman spoke. Saiful Karim Jewel, Zulkar Nine, Golam Mostafa Sumon, Saikat Dutt and others were in attendance.
