Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. For so many days its height was known as 6,748 meters or 29,026 feet. But after re-measuring the height of Everest, it was found that the height of this mountain peak is actually 6,648.6 meters or 29,031.69 feet. That means that Everest is about 1 meter or 3 feet higher than the previous calculation. Authorities in China and Nepal announced the new height in a joint statement on Tuesday.

However, the question remains whether Everest is already that high or whether its height has increased since the 2015 earthquake.

Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is located on the border between Nepal and China, according to the BBC. Mountaineers from both countries can climb this peak. However, there was a dispute between Nepal and China over the height of Everest. In 1954, the height of Everest was measured under the direction of India. By that calculation, Nepal used to mention the height of Everest as 6,748 meters for so long. However, China is reluctant to accept this calculation. According to his own administration, the height of Everest is 6,644.43 meters or 29,017 feet. They measured this height in 2005.
