New Zealand has submitted a lengthy report on the horrific Christchurch attack by white extremists. Many important issues have emerged in this report of the Royal Commission.

The Royal Commission says the country needs to make some more important legal changes to stop terrorism. However, the commission did not think that the attack on the two mosques in Christchurch could have been stopped.

In 2019, two mosques in Christchurch were attacked by a radical white terrorist. He entered the mosque with a pistol and shot ordinary people. The entire incident was also recorded on camera. 51 ordinary Muslims died in the incident. The culprit was arrested after the incident. More recently, a New Zealand court sentenced him.

The Royal Commission report was supposed to be published in early 2020. But it took some time to publish. The 800-page report looks at various problems.

The report says the attack could have been stopped if it had wanted to. Because the attacker is not associated with any militant organization. He hasn’t spoken to many about militant ideology. There was a time when he lived in Australia with his father. From there he went on a world tour. Eventually he began to live in New Zealand. Although he occasionally spoke harshly on social media, he did not arouse suspicion. As a result, the detectives cannot be blamed for the attack. It was not possible for them to stop the attack with advance warning.

The report mentions 44 laws and administrative modifications. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said she will discuss each issue in cabinet. The Prime Minister welcomed the commission’s report. According to the report, the way the person bought the gun can be prevented.

The man helped one of his gamer friends after he started living in New Zealand. That friend and his father gave him a terrorist certificate. The terrorist went to obtain a permit to buy a weapon with that certificate. Although the police interviewed him, they relied on the certificate and gave him a license to buy guns. The report says the gun purchase process should be tightened.

The report also called for increased vigilance on social media and YouTube. Be aware of those who express extreme views.

The families of those killed in the Christchurch attack also welcomed the report. The administration must monitor their statements so that these types of incidents do not occur.
