The High Court has ordered disciplinary measures to be taken against those who destroyed the sculpture of the Father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, criminals and instigators by opposing the installation of the sculpture.
After the hearing on the writ requesting instructions to take the necessary measures to protect all the country’s sculptures, including the sculptures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, High Court Judge JBM Hasan and Judge Md. virtual bank composed of Khairul Alam passed the order along with the rules.
Why not take disciplinary action against vested interests, vandals and criminals in accordance with article 6 (a) of the Constitution and the relevant sections of the Constitution and customary law and take disciplinary action against vandals and criminals in order to protect the statue of the Father of the Nation? The rule seeks to know why it will not be declared outside the legal authority.
The Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of the Ministry of Religion, the Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director General of the Islamic Foundation have been asked to respond to this rule.
Attorney Nahid Sultana Yuthi appeared for the order petition. Shah Manjurul Haque was with him. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin represented the state. He was accompanied by Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah Al Mahmoud Bashar.
By the way, three Bangabandhu sculptures are being built at a cost of Tk 3 million under the supervision of the municipality at the intersection of Kushtia city. The work of one of them is almost finished. But last Friday (December 4) around 2 am, criminals smashed a sculpture by Bangabandhu. Four people involved in the incident have already been arrested. They have admitted that the vandalism was caused by statements by Babungari and Mamunul Haque against the sculpture, law enforcement officials said.
