Regarding opposition to the construction of sculptures by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Shahjahan Khan said that sculpture is an art. He has sculptures not only in Bangladesh but also in other Muslim countries of the world. He gave examples of sculptures in various Muslim countries, including Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan.

Addressing people involved in the vandalism of the Bangabandhu sculpture in Kushtia recently, Shahjahan Khan said: ‘You have used religion for political purposes and for your own benefit. Don’t go too far with religion.

Addressing the society, Shahjahan Khan Alem said that there is a sculpture of Ziaur Rahman in the old Circuit House in Chittagong. When Khaleda Zia was the leader of the opposition, there was a sculpture of Ziaur Rahman in the official residence on Minto Road. So no one declared jihad. And the Alem Samaj never wanted justice for the murder of Bangabandhu.
Local MP RAM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury said: ‘I have challenged the scholars. Show where sculpture is prohibited in Islam. Because Islam was silent about sculpture. Those who are opposed to academic society and sculpture must understand the difference between idols and sculpture.
