Former Deputy Chairman of Daksh (Dhaka University Central Student Parliament) and joint coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, Nurul Haque Nur, said the government has a phobia of losing power. The support they had from the people no longer exists. The government’s farewell bell has sounded.

He said it in a human chain organized in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Nur said that today’s government is afraid of losing its power. They suffer from a phobia of losing power. So if you are united, this dictatorship will not last.

Addressing the government, Nur said: “If you want an honorable dismissal, take an effective initiative for a neutral government system in elections with all political parties and organizations very soon.” Otherwise, you have to say goodbye to the mass movement. No matter how much you make excuses and drama, people are angry but they don’t have people’s support. The people of the country will soon take to the streets to exercise their right to vote.

He said the so-called liberation war government, while in power, attacked workers, teachers and lawyers in the dead of night in the month of victory. It is a shameful fact in the 49 years of independence. The government does not want to listen to anyone. Whenever someone makes a logical and fair demand to the government and takes to the streets, the government thinks that their mattress is turning. From that panic they want to silence the people through repression.

The organization’s interim coordinator Rashed Khan, the joint coordinator Faruk Hasan and the Tazreen worker Anju Begum were also present in the human chain.
