Media workers have demonstrated in Kushtia to protest the vandalism of the sculpture under construction in Bangabandhu. The rally was organized by the Gopalganj Journalists Association in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka around 12 noon on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the university’s Blue Party professors have also organized a human chain in the central Shaheed Minar of Jagannath University to protest the vandalism of the Bangabandhu sculpture.
Journalists protest
At the rally, Shaban Mabud, general secretary of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), said that Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are one name, one entity. Today, those who have hurt the Bangabandhu sculpture have hurt the heart of Bangladesh, the existence of the country. He further said that the mischievous children of the Bengali mother could not have sat down in this attack. The journalistic community across the country has awakened.
It was said from the rally that a protest rally will be held in front of the Bangabandhu sculpture under construction in Kushtia on December 14 to protest against the demolition of the sculpture.
Shaban Mahmud said that all journalists who have the spirit of the liberation war will participate in this rally. There will be a timely response from the assembly to hit the sculpture of the Father of the Nation that day.
The rally was chaired by Mamun Sheikh, president of the Gopalganj Journalists Association in Dhaka. Media workers Deep Azad, Sajedul Islam and Manjurul Alam Panna also spoke at the rally.
