Dhaka: The Gopalganj Journalists Association in Dhaka has organized a protest against the vandalism of a Bangabandhu sculpture under construction in Kushtia.

The organization held a protest rally in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday (December 6) at noon.

Shaban Mahmud, general secretary of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), said that Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are one name. Bangladesh and Bangabandhu are one and the same entity. Today, those who have struck the Bangabandhu sculpture have struck the heart of Bangladesh. They have damaged the very existence of Bangladesh. My Bengali mother was injured. So the mischievous children of my Bengali mother cannot sit still.

Noting that now the community of journalists across the country has awakened, he said that the community of journalists in Bengal will gather in front of the Bangabandhu sculpture in Kushtia on December 14 to protest the demolition of the sculpture. I believe that all journalists who have the spirit of the liberation war will participate in this rally. From that day’s rally, journalists will give a timely response to the sculpture of the Father of the Nation.

Journalist Deep Azad, journalist Sajedul Islam Raju and journalist Manjurul Alam Panna, among others, addressed the demonstration under the chairmanship of Mamun Sheikh.
