Farmers unions called for a nationwide strike on Tuesday to demand the repeal of farm laws in India.

Several athletes, including gold-winning Asian boxer Bijendra Singh, marched to Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday in support of the agitated farmers. They were going to return their medals. The police detained them.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad attacked Congress for the peasant movement on Monday. He said that the law introduced by the current government was on the congressional agenda in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
