Shahid Hossain Barek is known to have been the ward-level leader of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Chhatra League. He was later twice elected as the city’s sixth ward councilor. Twice he was defeated. He is currently a contractor.
As seen in the video, Barek saw the young woman smoking and told her to put down the cigarette and leave. Later, the locals also started threatening them. This started an argument between them. At that moment, the young woman turned to Barek and said, why is she prevented from smoking as a child?

When asked, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique said: “We know the matter.” The police are trying to find out who is involved in this.
