Former Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu MP and his daughter Sumaiya Hossain on Facebook and Messenger for offensive and nasty comments about BCL District Deputy General Secretary Sheikh. The rabbi has been arrested by the police.
The rabbi was arrested Sunday night at the city’s Sadhana corner in a case under the Digital Security Act.
Jhalokati OC Police said citing the case. Said Khalilur Rahman, the BCL Sheikh Mohammad district deputy general secretary. The rabbi used his Facebook ID and his messenger on his own behalf to publicize the offensive and vulgar comments about Jhalakati-2 MP Amir Hossain Amu and his daughter Sumaiya Hossain on December 5 at 12:22 pm. Jhalokati Sadar Upazila Parishad Vice President Israt Jahan Sonali saw the matter and informed the plaintiffs and witnesses.
ASM Mostafizur Rahman Manu, Secretary General of the Bar Association, filed a complaint with the Jhalokati Police Station on Sunday evening. The police registered the statement as a FIR under sections 26, 29, 31 and 35 of the Digital Security Act of 2016.
Following the recording of the case, the investigating officer for the case, SI Hazrat Ali, arrested the Sadhana corner rabbi around 9pm on Sunday. The investigating officer surrendered Sheikh Rabbi to the court at 12 noon Monday seeking a seven-day pretrial detention, citing his arrest in a case under the Digital Security Act. After the 3 pm hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate AHM Imranur Rahman set the date for the remand hearing on Tuesday and ordered the rabbi sent to jail.
Mayor of the Sheikh Rabbi Jhalokati Municipality. Liaquat Ali is the grandson of Talukdar’s bad relationship. Sheikh Rabbi has claimed that someone opened his Facebook ID with his photo and name and put him in danger. When he went to the police station to file a GD in this regard, the police detained him without giving him an opportunity to defend himself.
