Delwar Hossain Sayedee is the sole defendant in the income tax evasion case. A total of six defendants in the embezzlement case.

In addition to Sayedee, the other five defendants are Mohammad Lutful Haque, former head of the Islamic Foundation, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, former chairman of the Masjid Council for Community Advancement, Mia Mohammad Yunus, Bandhujan Parishad chief secretary, Tofazzal Hossain , former president of the Islamic Social Welfare Center and deputy director of the Islamic Foundation’s Masjid Council. Among the accused, Delwar Hossain Sayedee is in jail. Abul Kalam Azad and Abdul Haq escaped. The other three defendants are out on bail.

Ayub Ali Chowdhury, former director (finance and accounting) of the Islamic Foundation, presented the case to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on May 24, 2010, alleging embezzlement of the Islamic Foundation’s zakat fund.

After investigating the case, ACC Deputy Director Wazed Ali Gazi filed a charge sheet in court on April 30, 2012.

On August 19, 2011, the NBR filed another case alleging tax evasion of Rs 57 lakh 46,612 by concealing income information of Tk 2 crore 26 lakh 40,120. The court started Sayedee’s trial on September 15 the following year.
