In Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh district, his son and daughter-in-law fled, leaving their elderly father by the side of the Dhaka-Sherpur road at dawn. An elderly man named Sahabuddin (60) from the Anwar Khila district of the municipality was left on the road near his home on Monday.
It is known that after the Fajr prayers on Monday morning, the faithful of the mosque saw an old man crying like a small child on the side of the road. The old man named Sahabuddin was rescued and taken to his home. The incident was reported to the Phulpur police.
According to the locals, the daughter-in-law and her own son have caused such incidents by providing support to the elderly sick father. Upon receiving the news, the CO from Phulpur Police Station and a local journalist went home in the morning to inquire about the old man. At that time, her son Rafiqul ran away from home out of fear.
According to local sources, the old man’s house was in the city of Sherpur. Once upon a time there was money, houses, farmland. He fell into the clutches of some influential people in the area and was left destitute. He moved to Phulpur 30 years ago. He lived in a tinned house on land given him by a local. The old man used to work as a laborer without eating anything. In family life, his two sons Rafiqul Islam (45) and Mirash Uddin (35). He is currently bedridden due to various diseases due to old age. Both sons are married. He lives with his eldest son Rafiqul Islam. The youngest son worked as a laborer at a rice mill in Phulpur. The youngest son, Mirash, did not keep any information about his father.
Rafiqul Islam has four children. In a world of scarcity, the older father has to fight to provide medicine and food. Also, it is not possible to sleep through the night with the pain of the elderly father. The daughter-in-law is admitting that she does it out of anger towards the elderly father. However, daughter-in-law Nasima Khatun expressed her regret over the incident and said there was a misunderstanding due to the fault. It will not be difficult to take care of the father-in-law in the future. He claims he has no land of his own, there is no work in Dhaka city for Corona. The only husband who makes a living doing little work in the area is supporting six people. Other than that, the father-in-law has not received an old-age benefit for about six months.
