When asked when the Padma Bridge will be open, Obaidul Quader said: “After that, it will be operational. I have spoken to the engineers and consultants and they have told me that the rest of the work will be completed in 10 months to 1 year. Only then will be open. “

At the same time, the train will pass over the bridge worth Tk 30,000 crore. With the courage of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, construction work on the Padma Bridge began in December 2014 with own funds.

China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the construction of the main bridge and Sino Hydro Corporation, a Chinese government, is working on the governance of the river.

Construction of this longest bridge in the country is expected to be completed by June 30, 2021

When asked if it would be inaugurated next year on Victory Day, the bridge minister said: “We do not inaugurate any day. The prime minister is against. Opening it on a special day, he never accepted such an offer. A special day it’s a special day. It could happen any other day. It doesn’t have to be Victory Day or Independence Day. “
