Hefazat-e-Islam leaders Mohammad Mamunul Haque, Junaid Babungari and Syed Fazlul Karim have been charged in two separate cases with sedition for making comments against the state. The court ordered the Police Investigation Office (PBI) to investigate the two cases.

Muktijuddha Mancha President Aminul Islam Bulbul and Bangabandhu Foundation Executive Chairman Mashiur Malek’s lawyer filed two cases in Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrates Court (CMM) on Monday. Following the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder today ordered PBI to investigate the two cases.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Anisuzzaman, confirmed this information at first glance. He said the court had asked PBI to submit a report to the court before January 7 after investigating the sedition case brought against the three defendants, including Mamunul Haque.

In the RG of the case, the plaintiffs have claimed that the defendant Mamunul Haque made anti-state remarks on November 13 at the BMA auditorium on Topkhana Road in the capital. Another defendant, Syed Fazlul Karim, made remarks against the state at a meeting in Gandaria in Dholaikhal on November 13. Hefazat leader Junaid Babungari made remarks against the state at a meeting in Chittagong’s Hathazari on November 26.
