Dhaka: Hefazat-e-Islam Deputy Secretary General Mamunul Haque has been charged with two counts of insulting the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on behalf of an opposing sculpture.
In one case only Mamunul was charged.
In the other case, Allama Junaid Babungari, Emir of Hefazat-e-Islam and Faizul Karim, Naib Amir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh have also been accused. The court reserved the case for two orders after taking the plaintiff’s statement.
Muktijuddha Mancha President Aminul Islam Bulbul and lawyer Abdul Malek presented the two cases in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka on Monday (December 6). Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder filed the case on two orders after taking the plaintiff’s statement.
It is alleged in the case that some time ago, fundamentalist evil forces Mamunul Haque and Faizul Karim threatened to smash the sculpture of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and throw it into the Buriganga River. Which goes against the constitution of the country and the war of liberation and is a crime against the State.
Earlier on Saturday (December 5), Mancha leaders told a press conference that they had presented the case. Written statement at the press conference in the office of the Dhaka University Journalists Association, the organization’s general secretary. Al-Mamun said, “We have noticed that Mamunul Gangra is speaking loudly on behalf of the opposing sculpture, mocking and insulting the Father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.” Radical forces of evil are sowing confusion among the people by banning sculpture under the pretext of religion. They are trying to fish in murky waters by misinterpreting the difference between sculpture and sculpture. We are in danger of disaster for the country and the nation if we do not take immediate legal action against them. They must be arrested immediately and receive exemplary punishment.
