The Electoral Commission made this decision on Sunday after investigating allegations of irregularities in the election held on October 10.
EC Deputy Secretary. The circular signed by Atiyar Rahman read: “A three-member investigation was formed into the irregularities. The committee presented its report to the EC at the end of the investigation.
“As the irregularities were proven, the by-election for the office of president of Charbhadrasan upazila was canceled according to the electoral rules of upazila.”
The date of the new election will be announced later, the notice said.

The by-election was held on October 10 after the death of the Upazila president of Charbhadrasan.
Following the announcement of the secretary general of the Awami League. Kawsar Hossain was declared the winner. He obtained 16,528 votes with the symbol of the ship.
His closest rival, KM Obaidul Bari, former president of the upazila’s Harirampur Union Parishad, won 5,347 votes.
In that election, Faridpur-4 MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (Nixon Chowdhury) was accused of influencing the presidential candidate Kawsar.
The deputy was also accused of threatening the local administration, which generated discontent in the administration.
The Election Commission then filed a lawsuit against Nixon for violating the Election Code of Conduct, abusing and threatening the incumbent.
