Some 30,000 government websites have been disrupted in the country. These websites are not accessible. The problem was reportedly caused by a power failure at the Maghbazar office of the Bangladesh State Telecommunications Company (BTCL).

Many websites, including the Public Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, the Ministry of Law, the Department of Food and ATUI, could not be accessed until Sunday evening.

Arfe Elahi, technical director of A2I, the developer of the government website portal, told the media that there are around 42,000 websites in government ministries and offices. Most of the websites are on the BTCil server. And the rest is in the National Data Center.

He said that this morning (Sunday) after the power outage at the BTCL office in Moghbazar, there was a problem in the power system of the dotgov.bd server. As a result, around 30,000 of the 40,000 government websites in the dotgov.bd domain of the national information portal are not accessed.

The A2I technical director also mentioned that among the websites, 72 major sites, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Division and the Ministry of Public Administration, are considered sensitive. Some of them also have this problem.
