The country’s leading academics want to meet with the Prime Minister to resolve the unrest caused by the construction of the Bangabandhu sculpture. At the same time, a special letter will be delivered to the Prime Minister highlighting the statements of the academics.

These decisions were made at a meeting of top academics at Jatrabari Madrasa in the capital on Saturday (December 5).

It was chaired by Allama Mahmudul Hasan, Chairman of Al Hayatul Uliya Lil Jamiatil Qawmia Bangladesh, Qawmi Madrasa Board of Combined Education.

The best academic representatives of the country presented various proposals at the meeting. Subsequently, 5 points were passed with the consent of all.

He raised objections to various topics, including the construction of sculptures, the limited use of microphones in Waz mahfil, and insults against scholars.

Among the resolutions adopted is that in Islam it is strictly forbidden to make human figures and sculptures for any purpose. It is not lawful to pay tribute to a great person or leader by placing idols or sculptures. This causes pain in the soul of the deceased Muslim.

Instead of building idols or sculptures to pay tribute to someone and keep their memory alive, it is reasonable to look for an alternative better supported by the Quran and Sunnah in light of the beliefs and conscience of 92% of the people.

He also called for strict monitoring of provocative activities to destroy communal harmony in Bangladesh, especially the use of information technology against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and taking the highest legal actions against the culprits.

Among the main scholars present at the meeting were Mufti Jasimuddin, representative of Hathazari Madrasa, Mufti Muhammad Waqqas, representative of Allama Abdul Halim Bokhari, Maulana Abu Taher Nadvi, Mufti Ruhul Amin, Mufti Syed Faizul Karim, Allama Nullam, Allamaul Islam, Allama Nullam.
