Cannabis is not a dangerous drug, India also accepted the UN decision

Calcutta: Cannabis has been on the dangerous drug list for 59 years. Even in medicine, there were strong objections to its use.

But sixty-nine years later, the United Nations proposed removing cannabis and hashish from the list of dangerous drugs.

Out of a total of 53 member states, 28 have ratified the UN, and India is on that list. However, even if the UN agrees, cannabis cultivation in India will still be considered a punishable offense under the law.

The 73rd session of the UN Drug Commission was held on Wednesday (December 2). There is a vote on this. Most countries in the United States and Europe, including India, agree to remove cannabis and hashish from the list of dangerous drugs.
However, 25 countries objected. Among them are countries such as China, Russia and Pakistan. However, Ukraine is not the only country that has voted.

The United Nations has said in a press release that it has decided to remove cannabis from the 1971 banned drug list. This vote has been described as historic. This is because the lifting of the ban paved the way for the use of such drugs in the manufacture of drugs.

In January 2019, the World Health Organization made six proposals on the UN dangerous drugs list. One of them was the proposal to remove cannabis and charas from the list of dangerous drugs. The United Nations finally backed Hu’s vote in a vote on Wednesday.
