At least 21 people have died in traffic accidents in seven districts of the country during the holidays. Among them, six people, including six from the same family, were killed in a head-on collision between a GNC and a bus in Daulatpur in Manikganj and six in Mirzapur in Tangail. The deceased have been identified as Govinda Badyakar (32), his daughter Randhe Badyakar (4), wife Babita Badyakar (25), father Hare Krishna (55), aunt Khushi Bala (50) and cousin Ramprasad Badyakar. (32). Another is Jamal, 32, a CNG driver from Sametpur village in Daulatpur upazila.
Among the dead, Khushi Bala was killed on the spot. All the others died on the way to the hospital.
Citing relatives of the deceased, the police said that Govinda Badyakar of Badyakarpara in the Chashavadra village of Nagarpur upazila in Tangail district was taking his sick daughter Randhe Badyakar to see a doctor in Manikganj. On the way, when the CNG carrying them reached the Daulatpur Mulkandi area, a Village Line passenger bus coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the CNG. All the CNG families were killed.
Dr Nafmun Rais, who is in charge of the Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex, said they all died before being taken to hospital.
Daulatpur OC Rezaul Karim Police Station said the Village Line bus driver was detained, but the fugitive was still at large.
Mirzapur (Tangail): Six people died in a traffic accident at Mirzapur in Tangail. At least 10 people were injured. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the Ichail area of upazila on Friday morning. The victims include bus passengers and pedestrians.
The Mirzapur Gorai OC Mozaffar Hossain Highway Police Station confirmed the matter. He told Jugantar that a Seva Classic Paribahan bus leaving from Rangpur broke down in the Ichail area. Later, the bus was parked on the side of the road to carry out repairs. The Dhaka-bound truck full of vegetables arrived at the bus around 8am. Four people were killed on the spot. Magura: Two women were killed when a truck overturned in Magura. Another died in another accident. The accidents occurred at different locations in the district on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Swarnalatha Majumder, 25, Sathi Majumder, 35, and Ahad Ali Mollah, 60.
According to the police, Swarnalatha, the wife of Milton Biswas from Thaipara village in Salikhar, was riding an autorickshaw with her brother’s wife, Sathi Majumder, to a relative’s home in the Ramnagar area of Magura. They reached the Thakurbari area of the Magura-Faridpur highway around 3:30 pm, got off the autorickshaw and stood on the side of the road.
At that point, a truck carrying vegetables lost control when it went alongside another autorickshaw. Swarnalatha, Sathi and Aparna from the same family were crushed under the truck.
After the incident, fire service personnel rescued them and took them to the 250-bed hospital in Magura, where Swarnalata Majumdar died. Comrade Majumdar also died on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Setu Majumder and Aparna Majumder, who were injured in the accident, are being treated at the 250-bed Magura hospital.
Meanwhile, a village doctor named Ahad Ali Mollah (60) was seriously injured in the morning in the Rajapur area of Mohammadpur upazila. He was rushed to a 250-bed hospital in Magura in critical condition and died overnight. His home is in the Lohagarh area of the Narail district.
Kaliganj (Gazipur): Two people, identified as Nurul Islam (43) and Mokaram (35), died in a traffic accident at Kaliganj in Gazipur. The incident took place in Bagarpara in Kaliganj upazila on the Tongi-Ghorashal highway on Thursday evening. The burial was completed in the family cemetery after Janaza’s prayers on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, son of the late Tarab Ali Khandaker from Munsurpur village in Kaliganj township, a motorist by profession, and Mokaram, son of Mostafa from Sauraid village in Moktarpur, union of the same upazila.
Police and eyewitnesses said that when the Ghorashal-bound car reached the Bagharpara area of the Kaliganj Ring Road at night, a reckless vehicle coming from the opposite direction lifted the car and killed the passenger along with the driver. in the act. Meanwhile, the car fled after crushing them. Later, a private car bound for Tongi on the road informed the locals at the Bagharpara post.
The locals went to the scene and called 999. Upon receiving the information, the Kaliganj SI Police Station Abdul Quddus and Moazzem Hossain went to the scene with the accompanying force, recovered the body and took it to the police station.
Kaliganj OC AKM Mizanul Haque Police Station said police were dispatched to the scene after receiving the news. The bodies have been handed over to their relatives without an autopsy as the victims’ relatives have no objections.

He was hit by a rocket train from Khulna to Kurigram while crossing an illegal crossing at Dhopapara in Kholadanga. The locals took him to Jessore General Hospital in critical condition. He died while receiving treatment there.
