The administration has relaxed the ban on students entering the Rajshahi University campus after 3 pm The ban was lifted on Friday in the face of angry students. However, the ban will remain in effect for foreigners.
On Thursday, the Attorney General’s Office issued a notice banning three doors from the university. According to university sources, notices were issued this Thursday in Kajla, Binodpur and the main gates of the university. “Because of the crown, no one, including students, outsiders and visitors, will be able to enter campus after 3 pm,” he said. However, the name of the university or any department was not mentioned in the notification.
Students have not been allowed onto campus since Thursday night due to the notification. Many students expressed their disgust on social media Facebook. Many of them complained that security guards at the gate prevented students from entering but allowed outsiders to enter campus. Due to the ban, students and visitors gathered at various gates on campus on Friday afternoon. The students reported the matter to supervising professor Lutfar Rahman. Proctor later relaxed the ban on students from entering the campus.
The director of Lutfar Rahman University said that even though the campus is closed, there is a large crowd of outsiders behind the administration building. But the offices closed at one in the afternoon. So the notice was given to outsiders. Subsequently, the ban was relaxed for students and people related to the university due to student demands.
