Gaibandha Palashbari League Upazila Awami Deputy General Secretary Golam Sarwar has been suspended from the match. He was ousted as a ‘rebel’ candidate in the newly formed municipal elections of Palashbari on December 10.
On Friday, the secretary of the Gaibandha district branch of the Awami League, Saiful Alam, said in a letter that he was expelled. According to a party source, Awami League mayoral candidate Abu Bakkar is the leading candidate in the municipal elections. He is the current president of the Upazila Awami League. Golam Sarwar opposes him as an independent mayoral candidate. As a result, he was temporarily expelled from the party on the instructions of the Central Committee.
Saiful Alam said Golam Sarwar has been temporarily ousted from the post of deputy general secretary of the Palashbari upazila branch under the central directive for acting against the constitution.
In this regard, Golam Sarwar said: ‘Even if the party expels me, I will not leave it. Because I am the son of a freedom fighter. He has been involved in Awami League politics since childhood. I have great popularity in the area. So I run for mayor at the request of the people. The rebel candidate has won the by-elections of two more unions in Gaibandha. I will definitely win here. ”
