Amirul Islam, deputy publicity secretary of the BNP central executive committee, has also been declared unwanted in Chowhali upazila of Sirajganj. The announcement was made at a BNP rally in Upazila on Friday morning. Earlier Thursday, the district’s BNP declared it unwanted.
The rally took place at the residence of the president of the Sadar Union Parishad, Shahidur Rahman, around 10 am on Friday. The convening committee of the BNP of Upazila and leaders of five affiliates attended. Chowhali Coordinator Upazila BNP and former Vice President of Upazila Parishad Mahfuza Khatun, Member Secretary Zahid Mollah and others spoke.
Speakers said that Riazul Islam, the joint coordinator of the recently announced BNP Chauhali Upazila convening committee, posted defamatory posts on Facebook about the three BNP leaders at the urging of Amirul Islam. The three leaders are BNP standing committee member and former minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, BNP district president and former Romanian MP Mahmud, and BNP central executive committee member and BNP district secretary general, Saidur Rahman. These leaders have been publicly humiliated by the mail.
