Judge of the Court of Repression of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons of Barisal. Manjurul Hossain delivered the verdict in the absence of the defendants on Thursday afternoon.

The verdict has ordered Farid Uddin to pay compensation of 2 lakh Tk to the housewife. You will pay the money through the court within 30 days of your arrest or surrender. Otherwise, the PDR Law has ordered the district judge to sell the defendants’ assets and compensate the affected women.

This is the court’s first verdict after the start of its activities on March 22 in Barisal.

Convict Farid Uddin Mallick is the son of the late Joynal Mallick from the Tarabari area of the Shikarpur union in Uzirpur upazila district. He used to live with his wife Farzana Akter in a rented house next to his father-in-law’s house in the Uttar Rahmatpur area of Babuganj upazila.

Citing the case, the court reporter said. Jalal Mia said that Farid Uddin went to Dhaka with his wife on October 8, 2008 at noon because his mother-in-law was not at home. The next day, he took Farzana to Khulna, sold her to the brothel’s Mintu Sardar, and left. After 15-20 days, Farid Uddin returned to the brothel and stayed there. He also used to collect money from Farzana regularly.

A few days later, Mintu sold Sardar Farzana to Hosneara, another Sardarni from the brothel. At one point, a dispute broke out between Mintu Sardar and Hosneara over Farzana. About two months later, on December 10, Farzana’s father went to the brothel with the help of the Fultala de Khulna police and rescued Farzana. The police arrested Sardar Mintu and Sardarni Hosneara at the time.

On 12 December, Farzana’s father, Abul Karam, filed a case with the Babuganj police station accusing her husband Farid Uddin and the sardar and sardarni of the prostitute. On September 20, 2008, the police filed a charge sheet in court accusing her husband Farid Uddin of being the only defendant in the case.

After taking the testimony of five people in court, the accusations were proven, the judge said. Manjurul Hossain punished Farid Uddin, the sole defendant and the victim’s husband. The court ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant and shield against the accused for being absent during the delivery of the verdict.
