Saifur Rahman and six other people gang-raped the housewife while she was tied up in the dormitory of Murarichand (MC) College in Sylhet. And two more people cooperated on it.
The Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) said this in the charge sheet filed Thursday (December 3) in the gang rape case. In the morning, Sylhet Metropolitan Chief Magistrate (CMM) Abul Kashem filed a charge sheet against six people in court and the investigating officer of the case, Police Station Inspector Shah Paran (investigation) Indranil Bhattacharya.
Chhatra League activist Saifur Rahman has been named as the main defendant on the charge sheet. He said that six of the eight were directly involved in the rape. The other two cooperated with them. All have been arrested and imprisoned. Each of them has given a confessional statement in court under article 164.
According to the charge sheet, the people directly involved in the incident are Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tarekul Islam Tareq, Arjun Laskar, Ainuddin alias Ainul and Misbah-ul-Islam Rajan Mia. Rabiul Hasan, alias Islam, and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum have been charged with complicity and complicity in the rape.
At the beginning of November 30, the DNA report of the incident reached the investigating officer through the court. The DNA report found evidence of the involvement of Saifur Rahman, Tarekul Islam alias Tareq, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony and Arjun Laskar in the rape case, said police inspector (investigation) Indranil Bhattacharya.
The DNA samples of these eight defendants were collected on October 1 and 3. After collecting samples at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet, they were sent to the Dhaka Lab. Police said the charge sheet was jammed due to the lack of a DNA report.
By the way, the housewife was gang-raped in the MC College dorm on the night of September 25. After raping her husband, the accused beat her and took the money from her. That same night, the victim’s husband filed a case at the city’s Shahparan Police Station.
