Dhaka: The best scholars and muftis in the country have claimed that it is forbidden to build idols or sculptures in light of the Qur’an and Hadith. At the same time, they said, it is the government’s responsibility to break these idols and sculptures.
The press conference was held on Thursday afternoon (December 3) in the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on the occasion of the issuance of fatwas from the best academics and muftis in the country to remove the confusion in the minds of the people about the installation of idols and sculptures.
It was said at the press conference that discussions are taking place recently, as the government has taken steps to build the sculpture. There are different pros and cons of sculpture. As a result, investigations have been conducted at the national level. Confusion is created with the provision of sculptures and statues.
“It is regrettable that someone is commenting on the provisions of Islamic law regarding idols and sculptures, legal and illegal, halal and haram.” Making such statements without having full knowledge of the provisions of Islamic Sharia is a sign of irresponsibility and a cause for concern. Building on that momentum, the best ulama prepared a joint fatwa on the theme of sculpture and idols on behalf of Keram and Mufti. “
Mufti Enamul Haque Qasemi, head of the Islamic Research Center, presented the fatwa at a press conference on behalf of the ulama.
In a written fatwa, he said: “There is no difference between the sculpture and the idol of a human being or any other animal, which is prohibited by law. Even if it is not for the purpose of worship, it is undoubtedly illegitimate and clearly forbidden and a grave sin. Ignoring the clear rules of Islam and distinguishing between animal sculptures and idols, concealing the truth of animal sculptures as legitimacy and disobeying the rules of the Qur’an and Sunnah. ”
He further said: “Furthermore, drawing the analogy of sculptures and idols from different countries against the clear provisions of the Qur’an and Sunnah is equivalent to ignoring an infallible provision of Islam.” Muslims must not follow the anti-Sharia actions of the rulers of any Muslim country. The only thing they must follow for them is the Qur’an, Sunnah, and Islamic law. “
Allama Noor Hossain Qasemi, Mufti Arshad Rahmani, Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, Maulana Enamul Haque Qasemi, Maulana Ataullah Hafezji, Maulana Nurul Islam and many others were present at the press conference.
The fatwa presented at the press conference was signed by 95 muftis and maulanas from different parts of the country, including Dhaka and Ulama Keram.
