In Habiganj, his mother Fahima Khatun wanted to kill her three children by poisoning them with juice to get a foreign lover. One child died but luckily two survived.
The additional police superintendent, Mohammad Rabiul Islam, confirmed the information in a press conference at his district office on Tuesday night.
Mother Fahima Khatun is the wife of Sirajul Islam, an easy bike rider from Uchail-Charinao village in the Rajiura junction of Habiganj Sadar upazila.
The Additional Superintendent of Police said Fahima Khatun gave this information in his confessional statement under section 164 in Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Touhidul Islam court on Tuesday. After giving his confession in court, he was sent to jail.
Akhter Mia’s extramarital affair with Fahima Khatun went on for a long time. Akhter Mia has been married more than once.
At one point, they dream of building a house. But Fahima’s three sons got in the way. On the night of November 18, 2019, Fahima bought two lychee juices from a store next to her house and gave them to her boyfriend Akhter Mia. Akhter Mia mixes poison into juice.
Later, Akhter Mia and Fahima Khatun called the three children from the yard and made them drink juice. After that, Fahima’s three sons began to squirm due to the poisoning.
Later, the children were taken to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital with the help of the locals. The doctor on duty pronounced Fahima’s daughter, Sathi Akhter, seven years old, dead.
The other children, Tofazzal Islam and Rabiul Islam, recovered after receiving treatment at the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. Later, Fahima and Akhtar’s extramarital affair came to light.
The children’s father, Sirajul Islam, brought a murder case against all three, including his wife Fahima Akter.
