Oxford University’s coronavirus vaccine, developed by the Serum Institute of India, has been accused of causing serious side effects. A volunteer in Chennai has demanded Rs 5 crore, citing the side effects of the experimental use of the vaccine. However, the Seram Institute has rejected this claim. This has been reported on the NDTV news.
The volunteer’s wife said her husband had lost creativity due to the side effects of the vaccine. She alleges that her husband developed serious side effects after the experimental use of the Oxford vaccine.
In sending a legal notice to the Seram Institute on November 21, the victim said that her covishield vaccine had rendered her nervous system useless, she had lost her memory and her behavior had changed. And that’s why it also demands compensation.
In response, the Seram Institute said in a statement that the allegations were made to tarnish the company’s image. They are preparing to file a defamation suit worth Rs 100 million against the complainant who participated in the ticker trial.
The company claimed that independent investigators from the Indian Safety and Data Oversight Board and the Ethics Committee had stated that the complainant’s physical discomfort was not a side effect of the vaccine.
“We want to make it clear that the vaccine will not be administered en masse until there is definitive proof of safety and immunity,” the statement said.
