He said in a virtual meeting Tuesday afternoon that he would not be able to hold any outdoor Victory Day celebrations this year due to the coronavirus.
“However, you can perform indoors and before you act, you must inform law enforcement who will come to the event, who will stay, etc.”
On the occasion of Victory Day, an inter-ministerial meeting was held on security measures for the smooth implementation of the national program adopted by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. The minister participated in the videoconference.
He said that Victory Day can be celebrated nationally. However, permission must be obtained from the local administration and hygiene rules must be followed.
“Detectives will monitor any incidents of sabotage in closed events.”
Epidemic: Victory Day parade will not take place this time
The interior minister said necessary measures, including artillery, will be taken in Dhaka and other districts and upazilas as soon as the sun rises on Victory Day.
He said adequate hygiene and safety measures will be taken at the National Memorial Savar during the visit and flower delivery.
He also said that special prayers will be offered for the souls of martyred freedom fighters on Victory Day and that good quality food will be provided to orphans in prisons, hospitals and nursing homes.
