35 lakh 74 thousand taxpayers have not filed their returns

NBROut of 160 million people in the country, only 50 lakh 82 thousand 57 are TIN taxpayers. More than half of these people do not send returns. This information has been known from NBR sources. According to the National Revenue Board, 35 lakh 74,361 TIN taxpayers have yet to file their returns until November 29.
According to the NBR, the number of taxpayers who have filed returns until November 29 is 1.54 million. While this number is negligible, it is higher than the same period last year. As of November 29 last year, there were 14 lakh 75,472 returns.

According to NBR data, the number of TIN taxpayers as of June 30 is 50 lakh 82 thousand 57 people.

However, statistics show that although the number of taxpayers has decreased compared to last year, the amount of taxes paid has increased. The NBR had collected Tk 2,534 crore from income tax up to November 29 this year, but collected Tk 2,060 crore in the same period last year.

The NBR says that two lakhs of taxpayers have filed income tax returns in the last three days. In other words, the number of returns filed up to November 28 was 13 lakh 20,625. Meanwhile, last year the deadline for filing returns was extended by one day, but this year the NBR extended it by one month due to to the crown.
