Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s top nuclear scientist and architect of the country’s nuclear program, who was killed in the bombings, was buried at the Imamzada Saleh shrine in the capital Tehran on Monday.

Only members of his family and military commanders were able to attend the funeral to avoid the crowds in Corona. Previously, Fakhrizadeh’s body was taken to the Ministry of Defense at his workplace.

His final respects were paid to him by colleagues from the Defense Ministry, as well as officials and employees at various levels. In addition to the Iranian Defense and Intelligence Minister, the main commanders of the country’s armed forces were present.

The bodies of the martyr Fakhrizadeh were also taken to the shrines of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, Hazrat Masuma (AS) in Kome and Imam Khamenei (AS) in Tehran, according to a report in Pars Today.

Ayatollah Hussein Nuri Hamedani, a prominent Iranian scholar, led the funeral prayers for Mohsen Fakhrizadeh at the Hazrat Masuma shrine facility in Qom.

Western intelligence agencies have long suspected that Fakhrizadeh is a key figure in Iran’s secret nuclear weapons program. Diplomats called him the “father of the Iranian bomb.”

In addition to Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javed Zarif, top military and religious leaders have blamed Israel for killing him and vowed to retaliate.
