A male elephant of the Asian species, Kavan, has been roaming the dilapidated Islamabad Zoo, Pakistan, for years. He had no companions there. The animal is known as the “loneliest elephant”. As a result, strong demands arose from different parts of the world, the elephant should have a mate, given a free environment. The elephant has finally found a new habitat and a new life. The current habitat of the Sri Lankan-born animal is a protected wildlife sanctuary in Cambodia.

The elephant was flown to Cambodia from Pakistan, the AFP news agency reported. The elephant arrived in Cambodia around 2.30pm local time on Monday. It was welcome. Buddhist monks wish the best for the animal. The image of the elephant is painted on the wall. Many wildlife conservationists are also excited about the elephant’s new life.

Cambodia’s Deputy Environment Minister Neth Fekatra said his country was happy to welcome Kavanagh. The animal no longer has to be alone.
