BNP candidates are final in 23 municipalities

The BNP has finalized 23 candidates for the position of mayor in the next municipal elections.

On Monday, party nominees collected party certificates signed by the secretary general of the BNP president’s political office in Gulshan.

The certificates were presented to the candidates by ABM Abdus Sattar, private secretary of the presidency, and Riazuddin Nasu, secretary of Information and Research of the party.

In a first phase, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the voting calendar on December 28 in 25 municipalities. According to the schedule, the last day for submission of nomination papers is Tuesday.
Nomination papers will be reviewed and selected on December 3rd. The last day to withdraw the candidacy is December 10. The symbol will be assigned on December 11. After that, the official campaign will begin.

Madan in Netrokona district. Enamul Haque, Ataur Rahman Ata in Manikganj Sadar in Manikganj district, Shahidullah Shahid in Sreepur in Gazipur district, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury in Dirai in Sunamganj district, Anwarul Islam in Baralekha in Moulvibazar district, MF Ahmed Oli in the Shayesititakunda district in the Shayesititakunda district of Habtagul.

Furthermore, BNP sources said that the candidates for the post of mayor of the Chatmohar and Dhamrai municipalities of Pabna and Dhaka have not been finalized.
